Your household, your data

Privacy Policy

Lovely Home · Last updated: 14 October 2026

Summary

Lovely Home is a private household hub. Each household gets its own hub at {name}.lovely-hub.com, running on its own database and file storage, separate from other homes. We use your information to run that hub, bill for it and support you. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not send marketing email.

This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The security page explains how hubs are isolated and protected.

Who we are

Lovely Home is run by Mark Lovely, a sole trader based in England. For account, billing, support and this website, we are the data controller: we decide how that information is used. Contact: support@lovely-home.co.uk.

Your hub also holds information you choose to add about other people, such as a sitter’s email, guests’ stay dates or emergency contacts. If you run the hub for a business, for example a holiday let, you are the controller for those details and we process them on your behalf to provide the service. If you need a data processing agreement, email us.

What we collect

  • Account and billing — your email, hub name and address, plan, and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. Stripe holds your card details; we never see or store card numbers.
  • Hub content — house guide topics, photos, appliance manuals, contacts, bin schedule, pet care notes, display preferences, and secrets such as Wi‑Fi and lockbox codes that you enter so the guide and QR code can show them.
  • People you invite — owner, sitter and guest email addresses, and stay dates for scheduled stays.
  • Optional features you switch on — postcode or address (weather, bin day lookup, address search), a calendar feed URL (My Day), Alexa Virtual Buttons settings, or a listing URL you ask us to import.
  • Support — your name, email and message when you use the contact form or email us.
  • How you found us — if you arrived on a tagged link (for example from one of our social posts), the campaign tags in that link and the page you landed on are recorded against your hub when you sign up. We use no cookies or tracking for this.
  • Security and operation — IP address, approximate country and request details, used to sign people in, stop automated abuse, rate-limit signups and show prices in your currency. Cloudflare keeps standard request logs.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To provide the service you signed up for (contract) — creating and running your hub, signing in you and the people you invite, scheduled stays, backups, and billing.
  • To understand which marketing works (legitimate interests) — counting signups by campaign tag, never building profiles of individuals.
  • To keep the service secure and working (legitimate interests) — abuse prevention, rate limiting, troubleshooting, and counting overall website traffic without cookies or tracking.
  • To tell you about your account (contract and legitimate interests) — service emails such as welcome, payment problems, plan changes and hub closure. We do not send marketing email.
  • To answer you (legitimate interests) — replying to support messages.
  • To meet legal obligations (legal obligation) — keeping tax and accounting records.

AI features

Some optional features use AI models that run on Cloudflare’s own network (Workers AI): translating your guide into other languages, drafting a starter guide from details or a listing you provide, and reading dates from a council bin calendar. Only the text needed for the task is sent. Cloudflare states it does not use this content to train models, and we do not use your content to train models either. AI output can be wrong, so check drafts before you publish them.

Who processes data for us

We use these providers to run Lovely Home. Each receives only what its job needs.

  • Cloudflare — hosting for hubs and this website, databases and file storage, sign-in (Cloudflare Access, which emails one-time codes), bot protection (Turnstile), AI features (Workers AI), and email routing for our support address.
  • Stripe — payments, invoices and the billing portal.
  • Resend — sending account and billing emails, and delivering contact-form messages to us.
  • Google — Gmail hosts our support inbox; Google Places powers address search when you use it.
  • GitHub — automation that creates, updates and removes hubs. It handles your hub name and owner email, which are masked in its logs.
  • OVHcloud — a server we use to run that automation and internal operations dashboards.

When you switch on related features, your hub also contacts:

  • Ordnance Survey (OS Places), postcodes.io, UK Bin Day and your local council’s website — postcode and address lookups for bin collections and weather location.
  • Open-Meteo — weather forecasts for the approximate location you set.
  • Virtual Buttons — Alexa routine triggers you configure. We never receive your Amazon password.
  • Your calendar provider — reading the calendar feed URL you add for My Day.
  • The listing site you choose — reading the public listing page you ask us to import.

Where data is stored

Cloudflare runs a global network, so hub data may be stored or processed outside the UK. We do not currently offer a UK-only or EU-only data region. Where personal data leaves the UK, our providers rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge) or the ICO’s international data transfer agreement or addendum to standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Live hub content — for as long as the hub is running. You can delete topics, photos and contacts at any time, or download a full backup.
  • After a hub ends — the live hub and its storage are deleted. We keep an archived copy of the guide for about 12 months so you can reinstate the hub, then delete it. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
  • Guest and sitter sign-in — removed the day after a scheduled stay ends.
  • Billing records — 6 years after your account closes, to meet UK tax record-keeping rules. We keep only what those records need.
  • Support messages — up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
  • Security logs — kept by Cloudflare under its standard retention.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your personal data (you can also download a full hub backup yourself);
  • correct data that is wrong;
  • delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
  • object to processing we base on legitimate interests;
  • give you your data in a portable format.

Email support@lovely-home.co.uk from the address on your account. We will reply within one month, and may ask you to confirm your identity first. Guests and sitters can contact the hub owner, or us.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

If something goes wrong

If a personal data breach affects your information, we will report it to the ICO within 72 hours where the law requires, and tell you without undue delay if it is likely to put you at high risk.

Local storage

The hub may cache guide content and preferences in the browser for speed and offline use. Display preferences are also synced to the household profile so devices stay consistent.

Cookies

This marketing site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The cookies it does use only make the site work:

  • Security and hosting — Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies to deliver the site and block automated abuse.
  • Account — if you sign in on the account page, your browser stores a session so you stay signed in.
  • This notice — accepting the cookie bar is remembered in local storage so we do not ask again.

Household hubs use access cookies so owner and sitter mode stay in place between visits. Stripe Checkout and payment pages are Stripe’s, with their own cookies.

Children

Lovely Home is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
